Description
An oval porcelain serving dish by Epiag of Czechoslovakia, in the Bird of Paradise, or Paradise Bird, pattern. A long-tailed exotic bird perches on a flowering branch in the well, with pink blossoms, peonies, and a rocky garden scene below. Matching floral sprays and small scroll ornaments sit on the rim, finished with a thin gold line.
The backstamp reads “Epiag” in script over a small device, then “Czechoslovakia,” with a separate “V.” Another mark on the base is the number 30. This bird-and-flower service is the pattern dealers list as Epiag 6720, also called Paradise Bird. Matching sets include dinner plates, bowls, platters, and covered pieces.
This dish is about 10½ inches long. There is on small chip on the underside of the rim. Please see the photos for wear to the gold and any marks in the glaze.
