Description

An oval covered vegetable dish from the Epiag Czechoslovakia Bird of Paradise, or Paradise Bird, service. The body and lid show the long-tailed exotic bird on a flowering branch, with pink blossoms, peonies, and the same floral sprays seen on the open serving dish and creamer. Gold outlines the rim and the lid, and the side handles and lid handle are gilt.

This is the pattern dealers list as Epiag 6720. Epiag was the Czechoslovak porcelain combine formed in 1920 from Bohemian factories, and pieces marked Czechoslovakia in this style are generally mid-20th century. The dish is about 10½ to 11 inches long, including the handles.

Useful for vegetables or as a display piece with the rest of the set. Please see the photos for wear to the gold and the fit of the lid.
