Antiques and Vintage Pieces for Your Home

These are older pieces we’ve found in storage units bought at auction: mid-century decor, kitchenware, old collectibles, and family heirlooms somebody left behind.

What we have changes as we open new units. Some things are from the 1950s and ’60s, and some are a hundred years old or more. We try to figure out what each piece is and how old it is, and if we’re not sure, we’ll tell you.

If you’re looking for something for the living room, a gift, or something to add to a collection, have a look. We’d rather these things go to a good home than sit in a storage unit.

Our EPIAG Czechoslovakia Porcelain

Epiag wasn’t one factory. It was a group of porcelain makers in Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic) that started selling their work together in 1918. The “EPIAG” name was used starting in 1920, so a piece marked “Epiag Czechoslovakia” was made in 1920 or later, mostly before 1945.

The arm holding a sword on the mark belongs to Springer & Co. in the town of Elbogen, now called Loket. The town’s name means “elbow” in German, which is where the bent arm comes from. So these pieces were made there, most likely in the 1920s or 1930s.

The pattern is one collectors usually call Bird of Paradise: a colorful bird on a branch with big flowers and a gold rim. It was popular in the 1920s and ’30s, and a lot of it was shipped to North America.
